The role will lead the BA’s to identify, analyse and document the organisation's business intentions, services, processes and information to identify changes that lead to business improvements.

The Senior Business Analyst (SBA) is an intermediary between the end-users and Technology to ensure that requirements are documented and understood and solutions deliver highly usable well tested solutions.

The SBA is responsible for contributing to the Business Process Improvement initiative across the firm working with the Service Delivery, Project and other teams across the organisation.

This role will work closely with the technology teams and the business to ensure that quality outcomes are delivered. Written and verbal communication are key elements in gathering business requirements, as is building and maintaining relationships with stakeholders at all levels across the firm.

Key responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain processes, procedures and templates for the BA practice;
  • Working with the PMO Manager and Project Managers to align the BA Practice with the PMO’s agile mindset and project delivery framework
  • Responsible for yourself and your team in identifying improvement opportunities, preparing the “to-be” model using the “as-is” model and proposed solutions being implemented by the projects
  • Leading and developing the BA team, allocating BAs to projects and initiatives within the portfolio and managed by the PMO and ensuring BAs are coached and trained to industry standards and methodologies
  • Governing the quality assurance of all BA artefacts ensuring projects meet their service transition requirements before being handed over to the business
  • Lead workshops and interviews to conduct business process analysis and gather requirements
  • Conduct gap analysis and present summary of findings
  • Create business requirements documents and work with technology experts to translate into functional specifications
  • Write text requirements or User Stories complete with Acceptance Criteria; which can easily be understood by the development team
  • Create and manage requirements traceability matrix and product backlog
  • Provide requirements prioritisation guidelines and influence prioritisation to achieve the best outcomes for the firm
  • Coordination of User Acceptance Testing (UAT) to ensure the overall efficiency, functionality and useability of system enhancement/development.

Required qualifications and preferred experience

  • Expert technical skills in the analysis, support and management of enterprise applications.
  • A thorough understanding of all aspects of project management methodologies (Waterfall and/or Agile).
  • A strong ability to converse with both end-users and Technology staff at all levels of the organisation.
  • Sound ability to analyse, isolate and interpret business needs and develop appropriate technical and functional requirements.
  • Sound technical specification writing/documentation skills.
  • Advanced skills with Microsoft Office, Microsoft Visio and Jira, specifically Kanban boards.
