Client Money Administrator

We have an opportunity for an emerging accounts professional to join our Client Trust Money team based in Sydney.
As part of the broader Finance function, the Client Trust Money team coordinate the processes and requirements for receiving and dealing with trust money held on behalf of clients or other parties.
Working closely with our Team Leader and Senior Accounts Clerk, this role is responsible for attending to the day to day trust money requirements of the Sydney office. The role also supports the firm’s national trust money function where required.

Key responsibilities
- Check that all trust regulations are met prior to processing of documents and payments.
- Attend to daily banking as required, including processing of EFTs and obtaining bank cheques for settlement when required.
- Ensure the accuracy of documents and process with minimal errors. Processing includes, but not limited to trust receipts, trust payments including PEXA settlements, trust to office transfers processing and trust journals.
- Ensure unidentified funds received are identified and correctly allocated.
- Ensure month end trust reconciliations are completed. Target is 5 work days after month end close.
- Follow up and ensure action is taken on all trust account cheques not presented after 2 months of being drawn.
- Follow up with lawyers handling matters in relation to trust funds held on matters where there has been no movement for over 6 months.
- Overall responsibility to ensure trust statements are prepared in line with trust regulations.
- Manage the controlled monies process.
- Assist other finance duties as required.
Required Qualifications and preferred experience
- Knowledge of Australian Trust Regulations preferred
- Experience in CMS / Aderant or similar large scale Practice Management System.
- Highly organised with exceptional attention to detail.
- Strong IT skills, particularly Microsoft Excel.
