We have an exciting opportunity for a Billing Specialist to join our Finance team, with flexibility to be based from our Melbourne or Sydney office.

The Key Client Billing Specialist is responsible for the coordination and completion of billing for identified, high-value clients of the firm, ensuring consistently high-quality service delivery to the client.  This role facilitates smooth, clear communication with partners, legal assistants and the finance team regarding client requirements, billing intentions and progress to ensure expectations are met.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the high-value, complex billing and matter opening/closing for identified key clients
  • Be the primary point of contact for front-end billing related queries in relation to identified key clients, liaising between partners, legal assistants and the finance team regarding billing expectations
  • Adhere to our client e-billing requirements and assist the e-billing team with any bill rejections and related corrections
  • Work closely with the finance team and legal assistants to review and streamline existing billing processes and provide input and support on new and ongoing billing projects
  • Attend scheduled billing training to ensure a practical working knowledge of billing is available to compliment the technical training provided
  • Provide calm, professional support to the resolution of billing issues
  • Continually review areas where functionality in systems or processes could be improved to streamline billing processes, identify ‘quick wins’ and work with the finance team to implement the improvements

Skills and Experience

  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a similar role, ideally gained within a law firm
  • Advanced knowledge of CMS/Aderant or other finance related software
  • Demonstrated experience in preparing and coordinating high value, complex bills
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Excellent communication with proven ability to build rapport with stakeholders across the organisation
